The Gerda Pinter Pavilion
Macintosh Island Park
The Queensland Theatre of Puppetry operates in the Gerda Pinter pavilion at the southern end of Macintosh Island Park, Surfers Paradise. In 1974 the Gold Coast City Council, supported by the Community Arts Board, included special facilities for puppetry in plans for a sound shell to be constructed at Macintosh Island Park, so giving QTOP a permanent home. This building, seating approximately 110, has been the scene of affordable, entertaining holiday puppet shows ever since.

Macintosh Island Park is a great family spot to enjoy before or after the puppet shows. It has playgrounds, shady picnic spots, barbeques, toilets and is a short stroll from Main Beach.

SEATING
Our theatre has around 50 chairs which we like to reserve for the parents and grandparents in the audience. Children are encouraged to sit on the carpet where possible which also makes it easy for them to participate fully in interactive shows. For legal reasons we must impose a strict limit on the number of people admitted into each show. We ask for your patience and understanding if you have to wait for the next show.
